Sixlets® Baby Shower Muddy Buddies

Muddy Buddies (a.k.a Puppy Chow) are a classic party snack, and with the addition of colorful Sixlets® they become a baby shower hit! You can throw this recipe together super quickly, perfect for last-minute party favors. We made a batch of blue and pink in about 15 minutes. Creamy peanut butter, crunchy cereal and chocolatey candy - what's not to love?

 

Pink or blue? Our chocolatey Sixlets® are a delicious addition to the traditional muddy buddy ensemble. The chocolatey flavor adds a rich element to the snack, while the vibrant colors make it pop and turn regular muddy buddies into a baby shower treat. In this recipe we used Shimmer™ powder blue Sixlets® and Shimmer™ bright pink Sixlets®. If those aren't your ideal colors we have other shades of blues and pinks to choose from, so find the one that matches your theme perfectly!

 

Prep Time: 15 min

Ingredients:

  • 9 cups rice chex cereal
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup Powder Blue Sixlets® or Bright Pink Sixlets®

Instructions:

  1. Measure cereal into a large bowl, set aside.
  2. In a large microwave safe bowl combine peanut butter, chocolate chips and butter and microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir, then microwave for 30 seconds longer or until mixture is melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
  3. Add powdered sugar to the bag. Seal bag and shake until evenly coated. Spread on wax paper to cool. Once cooled, mix in Sixlets® and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container in refrigerator.
